So how can YOU help Sundilla?
1. Come to as many of the concerts as possible.
2. Bring friends.
Wasn't that easy?
Sundilla is a non-profit organization, and everyone who works to bring Sundilla to you is a volunteer. In other words, we're not in it for the money. BUT... this is how our performers make a living; if you don't show up, they don't make money. Period.
Think about this: our current email list has almost 500 names on it. When 20% of those people come to a concert, we have an audience of around 100, and our performers take home at least $800, sometimes more. That makes them happy; that makes them want to play Sundilla again. And, the folk community is a tight one; they DO tell the other performers about Sundilla.
Just 20%!! And yet, we are now averaging LESS than 10%. That translates to embarrassingly small crowds, and performers who make less money (and sometimes, considering the cost of living on the road, they even lose money.) Remember, this is how they make a living; this is their job. Would you keep going to your job if your boss made you pay him, instead of the other way around? Probably not, and any operation that worked that way wouldn't be around for very long. Neither will this one.
But you can do something about that. Come to the concerts. When you can, bring friends. If enough people do that, Sundilla will last forever. If not enough people do that, Sundilla will cease to be. It's that simple.
And, if you want to help even more, then become a Sundilla volunteer! There are SO many things that need to be done for Sundilla, and right now so few people to do them. And with enough help, we can not only improve what we're already doing, but do even more.
